"Oh I think that having lots of languages makes the world a more interesting place, and I'd rather learn all the other languages and speak to people the way they want to be spoken to. Unfortunately its really hard to learn a language, especially when you're older, that's why you girls are learning Spanish now, and if you like you can learn French next."

"How come we put jam and nutella on French pancakes, I mean crepes, and not on regular pancakes?"
"You could if you want, but mostly we don't for the same reason we have different words for pancakes, we have different cultures which have determined the way things should be. For example, in France, crepes aren't just for breakfast, they also have them for lunch, and sometimes dessert, and they'll put all sort of things in them. If you have one for lunch you could have it with ham and cheese, just like a sandwich here, or if it were for dessert you might have bananas and chocolate."
"That's strange."
"It is strange isn't it? But you know what? It's also really good. I'll make you crepes for dessert, or lunch and you'll see, and then it might not seem strange to you anymore."
